Interlude.

I know it shouldn't bother me, I know I should ignore it. I know that I am being over-sensitive and I know that putting myself up here, as a writer, is inviting both positive and negative criticism. I know all that, so why does the fact that someone rated me on one of the top blog sites as a 1 (ie rubbish) upset me? Pathetic, I keep saying to myself. Someone obviously tried reading, found it hard to get into and decided to rate you low as a consequence. My head knows all that...but my pride is bruised and my confidence is hit. I mean, please, I am completely open to criticism. I am going to get nowhere as a writer if I don't accept that, but there are ways of giving it, aren't there? I am sure that if he/she/it *grin* had left a comment giving me some tips, it would have been so much more helpful, but instead, they just rated my blog a 1....

*sigh*

Your diary is really beautiful, I discovered it through blogexcerpts.com. I couldn't stop reading. I particularly liked your entry. "I want, never get".

I've learned from someone very special to me to turn things like that round and rationalise it and then throw it out. In this case, assume that they thought a #1 was the top mark and don't read it any other way. Or they clicked on 1 when they meant to click something else.

Or else, to them, your blog really is a 1 because it has too many words; not enough pictures; just not their style; not into your content; etc. That is not a criticism of your blog - just shows how they and you are different and that is OK.

What about trying to read it like that instead? It might help.

A sensitive person ... and I believer you are from what I've read ... often wants to please everyone. They take it as failure if they somehow didn't please. Then the guilt begins to creep in. It doesn't matter HOW MANY OTHERS say that what they do is wonderful ... that one negative ruins it.

How do I know? Becuase I am that way. Doris is right .. try to look at it another way ... consider the source .... maybe its a person who can't string together five words in a grammatically correct way ... maybe its a teenager who doesn't understand life ... there are a LOT of maybes!

Put it aside ... so WHAT. Tell us which site it is and we can go and vote the HIGHEST rating to totally wipe out the creep's vote! LOL

You are gifted, sensitive, caring, and it shows in your beautiful writing. NUF SAID!

Frankly Minerva...

Fuck them. Some ass came to my blog and wrote ME = OFFENDED.

It was kind of a kick in the face at first, but then I figured screw the, It's my stuff. And if it offends, or they don't like it - then they aren't worth worrying about.

For every 1 person who doesn't like this place, there are 10 who love it. And I'm one of the 10.

I am one of the ten also. I think that this is my favorite blog of all and I sit around waiting for you to post, checking several times a day. Let the negative stuff go. For all you know, this was a ten year old playing on mom and Dad's computer....or it could have been a mistake, or it could have been teenagers rating everyone but their friends a one, don't take it seriously. HUGS!

People can easily say Fook them. Well, when you can't do that as easily as others it makes you a more passionate person or compassionate person. Doesn't mean your a door mat but you have more sides. In my opion so much more interesting. With time it won't bug ya any more. But you will still be interesting.

Critics are everywhere but you have a much bigger fan base.

Oh, I love the new look!

I'll second the sentiments of all those who have commented. I made it a point a long time ago to not frequent sites like the one you are describing. What's the point? Writing is art and as such is subjective.

You write beautifully.

Don't worry about one crummy rating when you obviously have 10 times the amount of visitors who visit your site regularly.

Maybe they're the sort of person who can't quite understand full sentences? That's being mean but I've seen lots of 'netspeak' blogs, which I personally can't understand. So it might be the reverse for someone like that? Just a thought.

Maybe that person just expected pictures. It's pretty obvious that he/she can't read. Your writing is wonderful. I am embarrassed to say that until tonight my site did not contain a link here. I have now corrected that problem.

Best regards,

Darling, you should tell us where it was, so we can all go and rate you a ten! because we will.
There are many fools in the world, and it's impossile to please everyone. Some people will gravitate to a Slurpee, some people like champagne. Guess what we come here for? Fuck them!

You know, the very first time I read your blog, I didn't know what to make of it. I had to walk away, forget about it, then come back another time...and I got it.

You're a very passionate writer, and also a very talented one. I wasn't prepared for it, buried amidst gadget and multi-level marketing blogs. Of course, I didn't think your blog was bad at *any* point in time, but it did catch me off guard. You're simply that good.

I can totally understand why you'd be bothered. You obviously put a lot of who you are into your writing. A lot of us only wish we could be as honest. Maybe it was someone's thoughtless way of expressing envy, rather than saying "I wish I could do what you can."

When you've upset someone, it generally means you've said something worth while. Not everyone will like you.

Hey look at it this way. They had the decency to rate you. The fact that they talk about you means they think you are important. Who cares what they said.
Have a big ol' glass of laugh-it-off-wine
And believe it or not, some people will read anything that's been rated.

I found you a while back too.
I'm more of an observer
but decided to let you know there are all kind of silent people out here reading you.
