Hair today, gone tomorrow is a lesson for us all and I make absolutely no apology for the plethora of bad hair word play that will, I hope emerge in this post. As I brush aside the objections, part the waves of groans that are, I am sure, now populating the internet universe, I curl up at the thought of the permanent paroxysms of pain that will now be shuddering around me. Tou pee or not tou pee that is the question. Fur what I ask? Now that my thatch is burnt and my scalp protrudes going baldly where no man has been before (these are getting really bad) I am not sure if I can be bothered to 'wig' up. The mane thing is that it will regrow, that this stubble will become another field of corn and does this peace of hair really need a hair piece?
Until that time a question. What on EARTH do I do with the hair that I have accumulated? (And no, I can neither donate it or sell it so other suggestions please!)

Well, straighten it out, back comb it, get a drop spindle, spin it into yarn with a little wool or alpaca mixed in, then crochet or knit with it...
:D
Birds will line their nests with it.
:))
put it in with the mulch in your garden.
Over hair in the woods, the squirrels, the birds and even the hares use such material to line their nests.
So lend a bit of warmth to the animals, as they have been keeping us warm for many centuries...
I love your sense of humor, I love that you are back in good form!
leave it outside for the birds to make a warm nest?? You are fantastic Minerva, stay strong you can beat this. the cool dude from Sugarloaf mountain sent me over here today...but I have been before and I will come back. i may even add you to my list of dailies. ;)
could you make pin cushions?
I would recommend clean-shaving it now, before it has the opportunity to depress the hell out of you (and also make a big mess everywhere as it falls out).
Then hold your head high, and rock the bald head like the badass you are.
You could make some art with it and sell it for millions of dollars.
Take care xx
Can't think of any more hair puns so I will just raise my hand in salute to your absolutely correct use of the frequently misused
"plethora". I shall keep my hand high, in a permanent wave.
But then I would have expected no less from you.

Make a stuffed animal of it. Cancer bear to the rescue!
I'm here by way of David. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are one tough lady!
Hi Michelle
I wrote to you last about my sister's preference to turbans over wigs. She did however save her lost hair at first not knowing what she woulod do with it. After a few uggestions from friends, she went with one of her own and made several small perfumed sacet packages and placed them in all her drawers.
She wanted them to serve as a grateful memory each time she opened a drawer.
I loved today's post and your familiar sense of humor abounds.
I'm thinking of you a lot these days.
Though it would smell awful, maybe you could burn it ceremoniously in a rubbish bin fire? Or maybe not. I also like the idea of giving it out for the birds to build nests, though I'm not sure where you'd leave it.
I love your attitude, by the way. :)
Yeah. I think you should barnet.
;-)
I've tried to commetn a few times...nots ure why I can't. Just wanted to say that I agree with Amanda:) I am here on way of David, btw.
What if you just saved it as a memento...It is interesting that you write about this today because I was thinking maybe we should all shave our heads in solidarity!
I have no puns what-so-ever...but I echo others thoughts about your sense of humor, Minerva...And you are so smart, too! Bravo to you, my dear.
As long as you are not too de(s)tressed ;-)
I just popped by to catch up on how you are doing (friend of CQ's). It really is a big rollercoaster you on. Make sure you hold on tight.
I'm pretty sure the birds would love your hair this time of year!
I'm afraid I can't top any of these suggestions.
Mine would have been to spin it and turn it into yarn, since I'm a knitter.
Just bare in mind...loss of the tresses doesn't brush you away from us.
make an attractive pincushion, Blue Peter-ishly.
Another creative idea if you get bored- get some groovy headscarves and try out some of the rather spectacular styles shown here:

Then go out and turn a few heads!
My thought would be to sew some red fabric hearts and stuff them with your hair, and give them to your daughters.
my mother gave each of her children (all eight of us) a packet of her hair...woven garlands of auburn and silver
when her hair grew back out, baby fine and white as snow, (I remember combing it and thinking how beautiful she looked)....she gave us all a small cutting to add to our packet....
I still have mine...
to hell with the birds...give it to your children
love and hugs

When my Grandmother lost her hair from chemo, I took it and used a rope-making technique to make bracelets. So... make bracelets?
